Job description

 Operate the MODU’s station-keeping system within Company and MODU-specific guidelines
 While underway, perform navigation duties as required of a Second Mate
 Maintain various data logs, records, reports, and stay abreast of industry publications regarding the DP operation, and disseminate information as necessary
 Monitor all DP equipment to ensure proper operation
 Report any defects or anomalies to the Chief Mate/appropriate department heads; make corrections and document accordingly
 Ensure and maintain MODU’s draft and trim with respect to well location

Job requirements

Job Specific Responsibilities

Master Class 1 (II/2 >3000GT) or Chief Mate Certificate of Competency (II/2 >3000GT)
Dynamic Positioning Operator Unlimited certification
Valid Ballast Control Operator (BCO) certification, e.g. national MODU BCO license (DP semi-submersible only) Be familiar with DP and power management systems (Kongsberg preferred)
GMDSS Certificate of Competency
Ship Security Officer certification (VI/5)
Advanced Fire Fighting (STCW A-V1/3)
Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue certificate
Current valid OPITO approved BOSIET
Current Passport
Leadership ability; proficient computer skills; able to communicate technical concepts to technical and non- technical people
Understand the impact of DP operations/activities on drilling operations
Must have current AMSA medical clearance
Must have Work Rights in Australia

Safety Accountabilities

Demonstrate an understanding of, and consistently apply, Company safety tools and systems

Participate in all work planning and ensure that all personnel understand critical and/or complex tasks
Apply appropriate levels of supervision according to the competency level of the employee and/or the complexity and risks of activities
Actively develop the competency of employees and support and engage workers in the safe performance of their duties
Respond to emergencies in accordance with the Station Bill and Emergency Response Plan (ERP)
