We are looking for a Head of Operations - CTV within the offshore Renewables industry.
Company overview:
Our client is a leading player in the renewables industry, specializing in the European offshore wind sector. With a fleet of over 50 Crew Transfer Vessels (CTVs) and 5 Service Operation Vessels (SOVs) powered by hydrogen, they are committed to sustainable and eco-friendly operations. As an innovative company owned by a Belgian shipping group, they are expanding their presence in the European market and have established joint ventures in Germany and France. With a dedicated team of over 70 onshore staff members, they are seeking a Head of Operations to oversee the CTV fleet and drive further growth.

Job description

Location: Ijmuiden (NL) or Lowestoft (UK)

Role Summary:
The Head of Operations - CTVs will be responsible for the overall management and profitability of the CTV fleet, as well as driving expansion into the European market . This role requires a seasoned professional with a strong background in the marine/shipping industry, excellent leadership skills, and a strategic mindset. The successful candidate will be a people manager who can make decisive decisions while also being a good listener. The successful candidate will also collaborate closely with the joint ventures in Germany and France, ensuring effective coordination and alignment of objectives.

Responsibilities:
  • Assume overall P&L responsibility for the CTV fleet and drive growth in the EU market.
  • Formulate strategic and operational objectives, setting relevant targets for the CTV business.
  • Work together with the Chartering and Business Development team to support sales activities, estimation, and internal sales support.
  • Improve operational management systems, processes, and best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness and prepare for further expansion.
  • Ensure all operations are carried out in an appropriate and cost-effective manner.
  • Determine labor needs to meet production goals and manage budgets and forecasts.
  • Perform quality controls and monitor operational KPIs to ensure high standards are maintained.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance the quality of customer service and drive customer satisfaction.
  • Develop long-term plans and initiatives that align with the company's overall goals.
  • Work closely with the department managers to ensure optimized and fast decision making.
  • Coordinate and foster exchange of ideas among different teams, promoting cross-team learning opportunities.
  • Inspire and motivate employees to perform at their best through positive encouragement and incentive initiatives.
  • Identify potential problems and points of friction, working to find solutions that maximize efficiency and revenue.
  • Report directly to the Managing Director on the performance and progress of the CTV business.

Job requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, preferably in Marine/Shipping or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the marine/shipping industry, with a focus on vessel operations.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with fluency in English.
  • Proven track record in driving business growth and achieving financial targets.
  • Ability to travel within Europe as required.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to formulate and execute effective business strategies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Familiarity with the European offshore wind sector is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in additional languages, particularly German or French, is a plus.
