Job description

1. Strategy
• In collaboration with the Director supports the development and delivery of the Taiwanese business strategy and longer-term business aspirations, as well as the annual Strategic Business Plan (SBP)
and budgeting process.
• Take personal ownership of business development which includes formulation, initiation and implementation of strategies aimed at business development, growth and expansion and profitability of the business in the short, medium, and long term.
• Implement and manage any required change programs or global initiatives identified by the Parent Company.
Performance and Customers
• The immediate priority area for FY22/23 is to develop a strategic implementation plan to ensure that key activities associated with the growth of the Taiwanese business are delivered within an agreed timeframe.
• Prepare Country business plan and objectives and monitor progress to ensure that the company attains its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.
• Prepare, gain acceptance, and monitor the implementation of the annual budget to ensure that budget targets are met, that revenue flows are maximised and that fixed costs are minimised.
• Working closely with the Director and other key Stakeholders, establish and maintain effective formal and informal relationships with major customers, relevant government departments and agencies, local authorities, key decision-makers, and other stakeholders generally, to exchange information and views and to ensure that the company is providing the appropriate range and quality of services.
• Ensuring the business is financially stable and profitable, achieving an acceptable balance between external and internal focus.
• Ensuring the services provided by the company are consistent and in keeping with fitness for purpose in meeting key customer/client requirements.
• Developing and promoting company capabilities with recognition of market forces, prospects, and opportunities in the wider Asia Pacific region.
• Review appropriate organisation design to ensure the Company has capability to support changing markets, capabilities, and services.
• Represent Company in negotiations with customers, suppliers, government departments and other key contracts to secure the most effective contract terms.
• Governance through ensuring internal risk management processes at business and project level are effectively implemented.
• Ongoing monitoring and evaluation of business performance trends to identify areas for improvement and corrective action.
• Ensuring adherence to information security best practice, which applies to physical media as well
as Information and Communications Technology architecture and systems.
• Supporting innovations and campaigns in collaboration with the wider company business.
2. Operations
• Working with the Director, ensure that staff are effectively organised to meet key outputs and service excellence while providing opportunities for personal development through training, mentoring, and coaching.
• Contribute to leadership meetings on the full range of business issues and risks impacting the Taiwanese business
• Perform monthly reviews of Projects and analyse feedback and assess patterns and trends in use of staff (esp. utilisation) and sub-contractors, etc, to support continuous improvement and to help the Director in identifying capability / competency gaps and opportunities for investment.
• Ensure all technical staff are joined-up and collaborating to encourage knowledge sharing and opportunities to win more work.
• Facilitate (and mediate if necessary) the management of external suppliers, sub-consultants, and partners to ensure that ‘best for project’ teams are developed and supported in delivery
• Ensure adherence to standards, quality, and good corporate and financial governance, as laid out in the Corporate Operating Policies & Procedures and the timely and efficient performance of delegated tasks and responsibilities
• Participate, if required in Executive Management Meetings at both local and global level.
3. People
• Support the Director and Human Resources (HR) in the effective engagement and development of staff to maximise performance and success through staff engagement, retention, and attraction, and to ensure appropriate professional development.
• In collaboration with key stakeholders, develop Performance Objectives for all direct reports to help target performance and commercial acumen of team members.
• Offer guidance, mentoring, and support to direct reports and the broader team.
4. Finance
• In collaboration with Finance and other key staff, periodically review key projects to ensure delivery within agreed commercial and financial risks and to agreed profit levels.
• In collaboration with the Director, review the commercial risks and arrangements for all key projects to ensure they are acceptable and profitable
• Ensure that invoices are approved in a timely manner
• Ensure timesheets and other administrative responsibilities related to managing staff are done so in an efficient and effective manner.
In addition to these duties, the post holder may be required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required, from time to time, to achieve the above role purpose.

Job requirements

• At least 15 years+ experience in Renewables with emphasis on Offshore Wind with at least 5 years in a similar leadership role.
• Demonstrates ability to effectively lead the overall performance of the business (revenue and profit targets, resource management, safety, quality, etc.)
• Demonstrated commercial acumen including business development within a matrix organisation.
• Demonstrated leadership in implementing and championing a behaviour-based safety culture across the whole business
• Demonstrated capability in leading and empowering leadership teams which encourages innovation and a respectful team culture across the business
• Critical thinker with logical problem-solving skills and a high level of personal integrity with the ability to professionally handle confidential matters and show appropriate levels of judgement.
• Demonstrated experience in creating senior teams with diverse and complementary skills that can successfully grow and manage the business, now and in the future
• Fluent in Taiwanese / Mandarin and English.
• Excellent internal and external stakeholder management skills
• Demonstrates resilience and a forward-thinking outlook in an environment of uncertainty and ambiguity
• Demonstrates understanding, alignment and commitment to the ethical values, standards, and obligations of the business
