Project Surveyor Location: Darlington, UK
Remuneration: Very competitive
Start: ASAP (Permanent)

Job Summary:

The primary function of the Project Surveyor will be the day to day provision of survey support to internal and external clients. The role will be an onshore position with offshore assignments as required.


  • Sound knowledge of the Business Management System (BMS) framework and governance
  • Demonstrate behaviours and attitude which align to and support the client core values

  • Supporting Internal Management Forums completing specific focused tasks, to support the continuing improvement in operational excellence and the long term company strategy
  • Provide ongoing survey support to Construction, IRM & Survey Projects throughout the project life cycle
  • Provide technical and commercial input to tenders
  • To ensure that all survey-related activities are undertaken in accordance with QHSE procedures
  • Develop project procedures and quality plans in alignment with processes
  • Identify required equipment and oversee ordering, checking and timely delivery of equipment to worksites
  • Support project during client meetings/Hazard Identification Risk Assessment (HIRA)
  • Attend onshore calibrations and liaise with third party service providers
  • Undertake project briefings/ debriefings during periods of mobilisation / demobilisation with key survey personnel / other project personnel
  • To act as liaison on behalf of project both with internal and external interfaces
  • Ensure that end of trip reports are closed out in a timely manner with lessons learned being captured and communicated
  • Supervise/assist project surveyors as required
  • Liaise and develop close working relationship with wider Assets & Services department and project related external Clients as required

Job requirements

  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Office suite (Word & Excel)
  • Presents self in a professional manner appropriate to the role
  • Strong communication and procedure/report writing skills. Articulates views in a comprehensive manner
  • Produces written work of a high standard and presentable quality
  • Works well with others in a team environment. Ability to understand and interpret instruction and coordinate own work. Good organisational skills
  • Specific knowledge and understanding of current offshore survey techniques in Pre-engineering survey, pre-lay survey, construction support, as-built survey, ROV survey operations, LBL installation and calibration, subsea metrology and dimensional control
  • Knowledge and understanding of subsea engineering associated with Oil & Gas or renewables and field development
  • Previous experience as a Project Surveyor within Oil & Gas survey or Renewables.
